4 Benefits of Weight Training
Weight training is the intentional use of weight against the muscles, making them contract in order to resist the force. Muscles build in strength and size by having to match the force of the weight pushing against them. Therefore, the greater the resistance, the greater the muscle growth.
Weight training isn’t just for those wanting to compete in competitions. It’s benefits included improvements in the areas of posture, sleep quality, bone density, metabolism and weight loss.
Four amazing benefits of weight training are explored below;
1. Burns Fat & Calories
Weight training allows you keep burning calories even after your workout is complete. What more could a girl want, right? This is as opposed to cardio which only burns fat and calories for the time you are actually doing it. How great is that?
2. Tones Your Body
You can’t tone your body from cardio alone. If your intention is to change your overall shape, for example, build your butt or create definition in your back, then weight training is definitely the way to go.
4. Makes You Stronger
Weight training will not only make you look and feel better, but will give you the strength you need to carry out everyday tasks. If you’ve only ever done cardio in your fitness routine, it’s likely that you may be quite lean, but not necessarily strong and may find some everyday tasks challenging such as carrying children or shopping bags or moving furniture around the house? Weight training makes you more capable and strong, and less reliant on others for help, which is in itself, very empowering.
5. Gives You Confidence
The strength gained as a result of weight training makes you more capable, which in turn, increases your confidence. And at the end of the day, let’s face it, who doesn’t want to be as confident as possible?
We hope you enjoyed these benefit of weight training and should you give it a try, we’d love to hear all about it either below or on our socials. Until then, happy lifting 🙂
